In the first episode of the new season of ‘The Joy of Why,’ Nobel Laureate Jennifer Doudna discusses how she discovered CRISPR’s genome-editing power, the breakthroughs and hurdles during its explosive growth, and what lies ahead for this groundbreaking technology. The post...

One of the most surprising and remarkable discoveries in recent scientific history has been CRISPR. Short for Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats, CRISPR is a form of immune system that evolved in bacteria more than a billion years ago to defend against persistent viral threats. Under attack, bacteria can snip a small fragment of a virus’s DNA, store it in the CRISPR region…

In this video, captured live at Web Summit Vancouver in May 2026, Jon Krohn details how rapidly knowledge work is transforming as a result of AI agents and he provides clear, actionable tips on how to thrive in this era. Specifically, he discusses: • The exponential speed at which A.I. is progressing on coding, machine learning and many other knowledge-worker task categories. • How that progress is, in recent months, being led by agentic A.I. frameworks. • What exactly agentic A.I. is. • How individuals and organizations can flourish in the agentic era. • How to develop and deploy A.I. projects that will provide a positive return on investment (ROI). Jon Krohn is co-founder and CEO of Y Carrot, a software firm that specializes in designing and implementing agentic AI systems for enterprises. He also serves as ML Practice Fellow at Lightning AI and is the host of SuperDataScience, the data science industry’s most listened-to podcast. He wrote the book Deep Learning Illustrated, an instant #1 bestseller that was translated into seven languages. He lectures at leading universities (Columbia, NYU), keynotes at top global conferences (Web Summit, Collision) and presents content on Bloomberg TV that’s viewed by millions. Jon holds a PhD from Oxford and has been publishing on machine learning in prominent academic journals since 2010. The full 4-hour training on agentic AI mentioned at the end of the video is available here: youtu.be/LSk5KaEGVk4

Jon Krohn, co-founder and CEO of AI consultancy Y Carrot, joins CBS News 24/7 to explain why OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX are all racing to go public at the same time. He breaks down the enormous capital these companies need to buy chips and build AI data centers - OpenAI alone serves 900 million weekly users - and why AI bubble concerns make today's valuations worth locking in. He also reveals how the head-to-head race between OpenAI and Anthropic to reach the market first could shape investor perception.
