Think QA is just about catching bugs? Your testing logic is actually the ultimate unfair advantage for a career in DevOps.
You already master quality gates and failure scenarios—the exact foundation needed for CI/CD automation and Infrastructure as Code. The only missing piece? Learning cloud platforms like AWS. Dedicate yourself to the cloud, and you can transition into building end-to-end pipelines in just 4 to 6 months.

Patryk spent years in network engineering — supporting theatre Wi-Fi networks in London, following 40-page Word document procedures at an ISP, and getting laid off in a NY apartment alone during Covid. Then he spent a year trying to teach himself DevOps.
In this interview, Patryk walks through the entire journey — what network engineering actually looks like from the inside, why scattered tutorials don't work, how he studied 20 hours a week while holding a full-time job, and how he landed a Platform Engineer role internally before he even finished the TechWorld with Nana DevOps bootcamp.
He also shares the automation project that saved each customer $200/year in certificate renewals, why writing the Terraform code took two days but getting it live took two months, and what he wishes he had done from day one.
Patryk now runs his own Cloud Solutions consultancy at onlydevops.pl and has built a following of 17,000+ on LinkedIn — by doing exactly what he recommends at the end of this interview.
If you're a network engineer thinking about DevOps and Cloud, or you've been stuck in the tutorial loop for months, this one is for you.

Each stage solves real problems from the one before it — and skipping stages is exactly why so many engineers hit walls later.

- Why the AWS Console is actually a useful starting point (and when to move on)
- The problems CLI scripts solve — and the new ones they create
- What Terraform adds that scripts can't give you
- How GitOps eliminates configuration drift and manual deployments
- Where AI fits in — and why it amplifies expertise instead of replacing it

▬▬▬▬▬▬ What You'll Learn ▬▬▬▬▬▬
Whether you're just starting your DevOps career or you've been learning for a while and feel stuck, this video covers the exact mistakes that slow most engineers down — and what to do instead.
You'll learn why focusing on tools instead of DevOps concepts is the #1 career killer, why certifications alone won't get you hired in today's market, why sandbox learning gives you a false sense of progress, and why being invisible online is costing you opportunities you don't even know exist.
This isn't theory. These are lessons from my own DevOps career, from engineers I've worked with, and from thousands of students in our DevOps bootcamp — including Isreal, who went from struggling with certifications to landing a DevOps role in the UK, and explaining Jenkins pipeline optimization better than candidates with years of experience.

Networking is one of the most important — and most skipped — foundations for DevOps, cloud, and software engineers. In this video, I'll walk you through how networking actually works, from a single physical server all the way to containers and Kubernetes, using one practical real-world example the whole way through.

Here's the truth: 70% of DevOps jobs don't require deep Kubernetes knowledge. They need cloud fundamentals, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code. Kubernetes is overkill for most applications.
But here's the problem: recruiters put "Kubernetes" in every job description because it's a buzzword. When you actually interview, they're testing if you understand container orchestration concepts, not if you can configure a service mesh.
In this video I'll share my recommendation.

Whether you're managing servers, deploying applications, or troubleshooting issues in production, knowing how to work with Linux commands is absolutely essential for any engineer.
In this video, I'll show a handful of fundamental Linux commands that will make your daily work much more efficient. And we won't just learn them in isolation - we'll build them up step by step, combining them into powerful command chains that solve real-world problems.
Let's imagine a realistic scenario: You're managing a web application that's been running for a while, and it generates various log files every day. Your task is to investigate error messages that users have been reporting. We'll use this scenario to learn each command, starting simple and gradually building more complex operations.

Software developers have a hidden advantage in DevOps. Let me show you the fastest transition path.
You already have the hardest part: programming logic and problem-solving. Here's what you're missing: Month 1-2: Linux and cloud fundamentals. You need to understand operating systems and how cloud providers work. Skip Windows - learn Linux.
Month 3-4: Infrastructure as Code. This feels familiar - you're coding infrastructure instead of applications. Terraform is just functions and modules. You'll pick this up fast. Month 5: CI/CD pipelines. You understand build processes, now learn automated deployment. Month 6: Kubernetes and containerization. Conceptually simple - operationally complex. Focus on practical deployment scenarios.
Your advantage? You understand application architecture, APIs, and scalability concerns. DevOps engineers from sysadmin backgrounds struggle with this. You won't. Your risk? Ignoring the operations side - monitoring, logging, incident response. Don't skip this.
Want to compress this timeline even further? Book a free call where we identify your specific gaps and create an accelerated plan. We help developers like you transition every month. Link in comments - spots are limited because we keep these groups small.
