See how LoRa modules can be used to trigger a camera speedlight from nearly a mile away — no Wi-Fi or cellular required! 📡💡 https://null-byte.wonderhowto.com/how-to/lora-range-test/ LoRa (long-range) technology is commonly used for IoT applications, allowing low-power, long-distance communication without internet connectivity. But how far can it really go? In this episode of Null Byte, we put LoRa to the test using a camera speedlight to visually measure its range in an urban environment. By integrating a LoRa module with a Bluetooth Nugget and a relay-controlled camera flash, we explore how LoRa performs in real-world conditions. This experiment is just one example of how far hackers can push LoRa's range when remotely controlling their own devices. We also discuss how tools like software-defined radios (SDRs) and the Flipper Zero can be used to verify LoRa transmissions. 🔥 What we cover in this video: ✔️ How LoRa technology works and its real-world applications ✔️ Setting up a LoRa transmitter and receiver using Bluetooth Nuggets ✔️ Using a relay module to trigger a speedlight ✔️ Testing LoRa range in an urban environment ✔️ Factors affecting LoRa signal strength and transmission distance 🛠️ Parts/materials: • RFM95W LoRa radio module, such as: Retia LoRa Paw: https://lora.nugget.dev Retia LoRa Radio Backpack: https://retia.io/products/lora-breakout-for-usb-bluetooth-nugget Adafruit LoRa Radio Breakout: https://amzn.to/43pgQ2w • Bluetooth Nugget with OLED display: https://retia.io/products/bluetooth-nugget-esp32s3 • Camera speedlight: https://amzn.to/4jWKTVt • 5V DC relay module: https://amzn.to/4bx1QSd • Sync cable: https://amzn.to/42F2z1h • Connecting wires: https://amzn.to/3EGxTTI • Soldering kit: https://amzn.to/41LKm1a • Flipper Zero: https://shop.flipperzero.one 💾 Software: CircuitPython script: https://github.com/RetiaLLC/LoRa-Speedlight-Trigger 🔗 Additional resources: Full article: https://null-byte.wonderhowto.com/how-to/lora-range-test/ Bluetooth Nugget Quickstart Guide: https://retia.io/blogs/news/bluetooth-nugget-meshtastic-nodes 🔥 Exclusive deal: 72% off Premium Ethical Hacking Bundle: https://shop.null-byte.com/sales/the-2022-ultimate-ethical-hacking-super-sized-certification-prep-bundle 📡 Follow Null Byte on: X: https://x.com/nullbyte Flipboard: https://flip.it/3.Gf_0 Site: https://null-byte.com 📡 Follow the Retia team on: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@retiallc Site: https://retia.io Site: https://nugget.dev 📡 Follow Davis DeWitt on: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@backhaul-studios Site: https://www.backhaul.us Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itsdavisdewitt

See how hackers can threaten aircraft security by using software-defined radios (SDRs) to spoof ADS-B signals and create fake aircraft. https://null-byte.wonderhowto.com/how-to/drone-spoofing/ With the rise of drones, the FAA introduced Open Drone ID, a system meant to track UAVs for security and regulation. But what if we told you this protocol has a major flaw? In this episode of Null Byte, hosted by ANG13T (Angelina Tsuboi), we use a cheap $20 microcontroller to spoof drone signals and create a swarm of fake ghost drones! Using an ESP8266 microcontroller, Wi-Fi beacon frames, and a bit of coding, we show how hackers can manipulate Open Drone ID to broadcast fake drone signals, tricking tracking apps and even airspace monitoring systems. Our tests reveal shocking vulnerabilities in drone identification, raising serious questions about airspace security and drone tracking reliability. 🔥 What we cover in this video: ✔️ How Open Drone ID works and why it's insecure ✔️ Building a Drone Swarmer with cheap hardware ✔️ Spoofing drone signals using microcontrollers ✔️ Testing ghost drones in the field with real-time tracking ✔️ The risks of unencrypted drone identification systems 🛠️ Parts/materials: DJI Mini 2 drone: https://amzn.to/3WIYEg8 D1 Mini (ESP8266): https://amzn.to/3WMZ6dz Breakout board: https://amzn.to/3EoC9XO PCB mount terminals: https://amzn.to/3CDksmL LiPo battery charger: https://amzn.to/4aI1ub0 LiPo battery: https://amzn.to/3En83E0 Breadboard: https://amzn.to/42Fr7aB NEO6M GPS module: https://amzn.to/3EkYO7r Wires: https://amzn.to/3EGxTTI Zip ties: https://amzn.to/4baGmL6 💾 Code/resources: Code: https://github.com/ANG13T/drone-swarmer Detecting Aircraft Spoofing with Fly-Catcher: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ9ep0IlddA Wi-Fi Nugget Quickstart Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXNTk0JizHg Code derived from: https://github.com/jjshoots/RemoteIDSpoofer 📍 Check drone flight legality: https://airspacelink.com/ 🔗 Also, check out: Wi-Fi Nugget: https://retia.io/products/wi-fi-nugget-assembled Nugget.dev: https://nugget.dev 🔥 Hot deal: 72% off Premium Ethical Hacking Bundle on the Null Byte Shop: https://shop.null-byte.com/sales/the-2022-ultimate-ethical-hacking-super-sized-certification-prep-bundle 📡 Follow Null Byte on: X: https://x.com/nullbyte Flipboard: https://flip.it/3.Gf_0 Site: https://null-byte.com 📡 Follow the Retia team on: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@retiallc Site: https://retia.io Site: https://nugget.dev 📡 Follow ANG13T on: GitHub: https://github.com/ANG13T YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@AngelinaTsuboi Site: https://www.angelinatsuboi.net/projects X: https://x.com/AngelinaTsuboi LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/angelina-tsuboi-322028211

However, when the hacker is setting up their payloads, they can leave behind traces that they were there. This evidence takes form in the Bash command history or the files they leave behind that were needed to set up the payload. If the hacker was smart, they would delete the command history and any files that are not necessarily to make the payload work. Doing so will decrease the chance that the hacker will get caught and will increase the chance that the payload is effective. In this episode of Cyber Weapons Lab, we'll be going over drd_'s article on Null Byte to see how a hacker would go about wiping their tracks. Knowing this will help you drill down to information the hacker may have missed during advanced digital forensics. In this livestream, join Kody Kinzie and Stefan Kremser (aka Spacehuhn) for a new attack demonstration that shows exactly how a low-skill hacker can use free tools to execute a high-impact extortion technique that captures sensitive data and encrypts files on the network. A weak Wi-Fi password is all an attacker needs to infiltrate a network and launch a ransomware attack. See first-hand how an attacker gains remote access through Wi-Fi, steals confidential company information, and encrypts all data on an FTP server. Knowing how this works is the first step to combating it in the real world.
