I've been on a cancellation spree lately. There are tools I was paying for monthly that I realized I could just build myself, better, more specific to what I actually need, and free to run after the initial build. The one that started it was accounting software. I was paying for something that handled maybe 80% of what I needed, and the other 20% was always a workaround. So I built my own using open-source AI, hosted locally. And then I started looking at everything else the same way. What am I paying for that's only 80% of what I need? What's too specific for any company to build for me? The answer was more things than I expected. Local agents are more accessible than people think right now. You don't need a huge technical background to get started. And the privacy angle alone, keeping your data on your own machine, is worth it for certain workflows.
